I drove into Charlottetown this morning to find crowds of first year university students at just about every busy intersection. they were doing what they call Shine Arama. Its a good fundraiser but the method begs a question of safety. These young students at the traffic lights were flitting in between lanes of moving vehicles asking for donations. The shine arama was once just that, shinning shoes. This latest method of raising funds is madness and could certainly end in injury or even worse, death. What are the university staff thinking

The photo reminds me of my days at Ganges marching off to school. Anyway schools are back so watch for the kids and drive carefully, remember to stop for school buses. On the antique car front I’m looking at a 1963 Volvo 122 and a 1971 Austin American 1300. I haven’t made any decisions as yet. Its not something to rush into but carefully thought out first.

Actually it was more of a tropical storm than a hurrican, winds up to 120klms and lots of rain. No damage, no trees down, not even a branch. The corn in our fields also survived. Nova Scotia were hit harder, lots of trees down and widespread power outages. Some power out here too but we were lucky.

The heading sums me up very well!! A couple of months ago Brad (Sunrise Solutions)changed and updated my website, its so much better now. However it took until today for me to realize I could add links to other sites/blogs!!! I have been busy all morning adding them.
We are ready for the hurricane that is due to hit tomorrow. We have put everything in the barn or garage and battened down the hatches. Went over to Millvale to do the same for Mark & Caroline’s summer house. But I don’t think they will appreciate it?? managed to drop their bedroom air conditioner out the window, doubt it works now, but at least I have until next summer before they notice!!! (maybe)????

Oh the heat! its 85 inside the house again today, Poor Yoda is really hot. We are almost looking forward to hurricane Earl who is at the moment heading in our direction. Its supposed to hit sometime on Saturday. We spent the morning moving everything inside, lawn chairs etc. I just hope we don’t feel the full force of Earl.

Maybe its the heat!! but more likely my life long habit. I sold the Rover back in May 2010 thinking that my days of working on cars was over. I was wrong, I feel naked without a British car in my garage (I never learn) so I’m on the hunt again. I just want a small saloon car two or four door, nothing too exotic or complicated. Maybe a Austin like the ones on the VON stamp!!

Jay operates a coffee house-book store-art store at the beautiful bay in St Peters, he has my books on consignment and is featuring them on his web site over the winter.Take a minute to visit his site.

Well it was a good weekend, Arsenal won their game, Valentina returned home from Russia. I missed church this morning because I had a visit from several of the British Touring group that are visiting the island. We had a MGB, Morris Minor convertible and a Mini convertible, even a Toyota hybrid in the yard. Sold seven books, three Lily & Me and four Royal Navy & Me. Now we are off for a walk on the beach.

Oh Boy!! politicians really do think the voting public are stupid!! Lawrence MacAuley MP. gets some 70 truck loads of fill and Ron Mckinley MLA says there is nothing unusual in that, anyone can ask and receive the same when the Hwy dept are clearing ditches. Also he states it has nothing to do with him, the road manager decides. Did I just see the buck being passed. Or was it a truck load of crap heading for Cardigan??? And apparently poor old Lawrence is in Ottawa and doesn’t have a phone!!!
