I remember " the Plunge" quite well. As I remember it was a sunday morning at breakfast time. I swallowed my bacon and egg rather quickly and went to my station.
I was an ERA along with CERA Alan West. ERA's Brian Wallis, Dick Watling, Colin Penn. Taff Hodges. Chief Stoker Jan Beer. Can't remember any other names except the skipper Simon Conway.
Those were the days. I now live in Brights Grove Ontario and semi retired.
                                                  Regards
                                                          Mike Walton

That is very cool. Not only the first all-female team registered with the CSA - but champions at that!

I agree with much of what you say, however its the secret way this was done it leaves many unanswered questions. Are the owners qualified to run a range and if so where did they receive their training. Whilst in the military I was a range safety officer and I have seen many stupid actions that could have led to injury or death. Keeping it so quiet until it opened makes me very suspicious, what other short cuts have been taken?? Finally is this range needed, we have a very good biathlon range at Brookvale that gets very little use, I'm sure arrangements could be made to use it, certainly in the summer.

Very interesting...

Although I count myself on the conservative side of things, I'm very much anti-gun - especially any type of hand gun or automatic weapon.

On the other hand I also have a libertarian temperament - so I'm not against shooting ranges - but I am for neighbourly consultation and following the rules.

I wonder if there is a way to have a shooting range at the proposed location without disturbing the locals?
